Anne Hathaway is done with all the drama...in her personal life at least. After splitting up with former beau of four years, Raffaello Follieri, after his shocking fraud scandal in 2008, Hathaway has now found love in a very low maintenance guy, actor Adam Shulman. According to Hathaway in the August issue of Harper's Bazaar, this relationship is much more low key and, "So far, it's worked out great." The Devil Wears Prada actress admits that she used to get caught up in much more intense romantic affairs, "Which has its wonderful side, of course...but also it was exhausting, and sometimes it would freak me out. Mellow doesn't always make for a good story, but it makes for a good life." Is it just me or is that sort of a backwards compliment to Shulman? It's almost like she's saying their relationship doesn't look good on paper. Plus, mellow could be also mean boring. Let's hope this doesn't lead to a lover's quarrel.
Hathaway has more than just a love life to keep her busy. Not only did she help co-host the Oscars, but now she's trading in her microphone for a cat suit in the latest installment of the Batman series, The Dark Knight Rises. Hathaway dishes about preparing for this highly anticipated film. Apparently she's been training vigorously for this role of a lifetime and admits, "I've always thought that skinny was the goal, but with this job I also have to be strong," and claims that she's been working out five days a week to prepare. Perhaps she's getting a little too in character since she recently gave a stuntman a black eye while filming a fight scene. It appears like the claws are already coming out.
Hathaway beat out many A-list celebrity actresses to win this coveted role and while looking back on how far she's come she credits her Brokeback Mountain director, Ang Lee stating, "I think people assumed that I was a girl searching for a happily-ever-after, when for me that's the least interesting part of the story...with Brokeback, I got to go beyond that." Hathaway has made it clear that she wants to be taken seriously as an actress --- this is her chance. Will she succeed in delving into the psyche of this feline villain or will it turn into a fur-ball flop? Only time will tell...
